Determined to reach the rank of “Knight” these squires ride into battle alongside their masters who are existing knights. On the field of battle they have a chance to show their loyalty and skill and prove themselves worthy of becoming knights.
They come mounted on unarmoured Saddle Horses which provide them with more speed, but offer less protection and make them more vulnerable to missiles and pikes. The squires themselves spawn with quite decent armour and wield Blunt Tip Lances with which they can knock enemies unconscious. In addition to their lance, they also wield the Cross Hilt Noble Sword which they use for close quarter melee combat. In battle do not tell them to charge an infantry line as they will most likely be killed by archers or if they do manage to avoid ranged attacks, the infantry will tear them to pieces. Make sure the enemy formation is broken and infantry scattered before you tell your squires to charge as they can perform decent hit and run attacks. If forced to fight on foot they will be easily overwhelmed by mid-tier infantry and their melee skills are not notable either.
Always support these vulnerable units with heavy cavalry of your own to maximize their use and ensure their survival in battle, so they may be upgraded into their much stronger superiors.
